Comments: I am looking for my lost friend Larry Bauer from the USS Black DD666 in the early 1960's. I lost touch with him through my own fault and I have regretted it ever since. I have been searching diligently for months and the years past have taken all the information I knew and stored it in my mind in places where I can't remember things like his birthdate (although he would be around 57 or 58 now), his home town, his SS#, sister's name and address (I used to write to her too) . I would appreciate any help any one can offer. I would love to see him and share how our lives have progressed since we last were in contact. Good luck to all the other folks who search with high hopes too. I found this website from an email reply to an email address I found in a USS KIDD association newsletter. The recipient mentioned this website and I had not heard of it. So be sure to share what you think might help. If you give me info I already have I will still be energized from another caring response....

Comments: My husband, Benjamin S. Hendrickson is looking for `Dutch' Stong. As far as can be recalled, Dutch was with the 315th Troop Carrier Group during the Korean War. Ben was Dutch's best man at Dutch's marriage in 1952 to Sally. Dutch was from PA, possibly around Altoona, and Sally was from TN, possibly the Nashville area. Dutch was at Sewart AFB 1951-1952, shipped to Ashiya, Japan in 1952, returned to states in 1953. Please, if anyone can find Dutch, and or Sally, please email us. Thank you, Lady Mary Sir Benjamin S. Hendrickson PS. We currently live in Fayetteville, AR

Comments: Searching for any information regarding my father, Benjamin Franklin Bennett, aka: Frank Bennett. He was a WWI vet, fought and wounded in France. Also served in Nicaragua. Was a cook in the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army both at different periods from approximately 1912 to 1918. He was born in 1891 and died in the Los Angeles Veterans Hospitol in 1951. He was originaly from Georgia but lived and traveled extensively throughout the Southwest and Mexico. I am working on a geneology and have run into a dead end. Have little to no information before 1943 other than incomplete journal entries. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Comments: I just read the Newsletter posted on my e-mail and was angered by the fact some think Jack and Rich are doing this for the money. Sit down, make a list and REALLY think about what this all entails. You would be surprised at the cost and labor hours, not to mention patience and dedication needed to successfully run a site like this. They found three people for me within hours of my joining - quite a feat. There's an old saying which I'm going to paraphrase here, "those who can, do; those who can't, criticize." Keep up the good work Jack & Rich, and know there are many more of us who appreciate your work than those who don't.

Comments: CoA12thEngrBn Anderson Barracks, Dexheim Germany from 1Aug1966 to 22May67. CoA326EngrBn1stBde101stAbnDiv. From 19July67 to 28April68. Iwas assigned to Co.C 1st327 101st Airborne. I gave C-4 to the guys to heat up coffee and also disarmed Chicoms for safe delivery. I was hurt 3 times, #1 9Sept67 we were walking thru a old camp someone stepped on a mine Ibelieve 4 or 5 guys were hurt. #2 23Oct67 A bunch of us were on water detail filling canteens a :-) walks up and the out posts open fire we all went back into the brush and hundreds of canteens floated in the water like rubber duckies. I was medivaced out the next morning shrap mteal in the knee. #3 19April68 We went into Ashau arvn were already on the ground. Two skids were on thier sides on the ground. Our first group of people made contact one man was shot through both hands. We went up a hill the :-) s had a spotter in the trees they dropped motar rounds right down our line. I blew a LZ on the side of the hill so we could get our wounded out and to bring in more people in. After hoisting several people out I heard on the radio that someone needed assistance,i heard this several times. I decided to go up front to find out, when i got there i saw one man down i went over to him, several people called me crazy, Ibandaged him another man helped me carry him to the LZ while being covered with weapons fire THANK YOU GUYS! HE had a bullet hole in his face I stayed with him until he was lifted out, God be with. There were three wounded left at the LZ it was getting dark I looked around and saw no one else. We were left behind. We took a vote and decided to go up the hill scared :-) less to say the least. I tooked the lead, I was the only one who had a weapon. pitch black, slow moving three hurt. A voice rings out ahead of us "who goes there " by the end of that statement I delivered every profound cuss word in my vocabulary to let them know who we were and why, IT WORKED. The hurt got settled in and thanked me. I found the other Engrs. and floped down and went to sleep, to tired to eat. The next morning my Plt. leader told us {2 other Engrs} to go secure the LZ we started to go into the bush a infantryman told us the trail was over there and I told him he was nuts that I was not going down the trail so, we made way thru the bush a different way. after getting to the LZ we waited for the wounded to come down. A short while later I heard alot of weapons fire it lasted but moments I started towards the ruckus I found the three wounded and two medics dead. I still remember the horror I felt, the helplesnes and every emotion there of. I don't remember the rest of that day for the exception fo settling down for the night {don't take the same trail twice}. The next morning we were getting up for our Cs and a gernade went off as my self and to other Engrs wre sitting. OUCH|. I crawled in quite a few tunnels and blew up ordinances that didn't go off when I was in bush. I wish to thank all whom I served with in Aco 326 engrs . and Cco 1/327 my thoughts are always with you, NO SLACK! Humble with love, Engineety My address is C-4 pdxnet.net

Comments: Finally, After Over 30 years of searching... my former Squad Leader and Friend, Sgt.Barry Watkins, has been FOUND... due to the efforts of Jack Gentile the American Veteran Search Team... I can't Express how Greatful I am. This might even mean that I don't need any more PTSD Treatments. I have so many pictures of the Marines that I was Privledged to serve with but so little information on them. All these Years have really clogged my memory cells. But, Due to the efforts of Mr. Jack Gentile, A Renewed Spirit has been set afire and I will now seek out all of the rest of the Marines of my former outfit so that we can hook up this Novenber for the Cap Marine Association Reunion. I have used other sites with No Results. But I realize that many of us don't have computers or never bothered to post ourselves on some Veteran site. Therefore, the chances are slim that we can ever meet again. There is also the problem with names and service numbers. Most of us never knew each other by real names, only by nicknames. But this site was able to take what little information I had and turn it into a... Blessed Event... I hope that the memories that I will now share with my former squad leader will bring lots of joy and a little sorrow as we all need to Remember at times But, never to Forget..Semper Fi, Dco O'Brien

Comments: I retired from the USAF after 20 years, in the Medical Material Field, in July 1974. I have been searching for a couple of buddies that I was stationed with at a couple of different locations. Am looking for Hugh A. Brantley that was with me at Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, NC, and in Kunsan, Korea during the "Pueblo Crisis". Also looking for James W. Axtell who was with me at the USAF Hospital, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska from 1970 to 1973. Anyone knowing their where-abouts that will contact me will be appreciated. Would also like to hear from anyone that was stationed with me at the 33rd USAF Dispensary, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon, VN from October 1963 to December 1964. Thanks for your site. It is without a doubt, the best!!. I am a member and search it frequently.

Comments: Who remembers, during WW II at Norwich AFB, England (1943-1945) chilling their rationed candy bars on the bombers? My friend, Leslie LaPlace, was a corporal assigned to bomb sites and automatic pilot. His 80th birthday is approaching and I would like to hear from anyone who may have served with him! (And he honestly didn't mind when the pilots found the bars and ate them in flight)
